Benzene

Benzene is classed as an aromatic hydrocarbon used mainly as an intermediate to make other chemicals such as ethylbenzene and cumene. and it is used to make styrene, polymers, plastics, resins, and nylon. Because it has a high octane number, it is a component of gasoline. Smaller amounts of benzene are used to make some types of rubbers, lubricants, dyes, and pesticides.
